SoftPro PH Neutralizer Calcite Water Filter Review

We hear a lot about water softeners that remove calcium and magnesium to soften or condition  the water. When you remove these minerals, the water becomes more acidic. Though, what if you have acidic water from a well or other source? This is when you’d do better using a PH neutralizer which restores the water to a neutral PH of around 7PH.

In this article, we’ll be reviewing the quite marvelous SoftPro PH Neutralizer Calcite Water Filter.

That’s a long and complicated title for something that is inherently quite simple, yet very effective. If you’re considering a PH neutralizing water filter, it would be a good idea to understand what this is and how it works.

What is a Calcite PH Neutralizer Water Filter?

The PH level of your water determines whether it is acidic, neutral, or alkaline. Depending on your water supply, and your personal health preferences, you may want to alter the PH by using an electric machine, chemical or natural media to increase or reduce  the PH of your water.

Calcite is a natural mineral that will reduce the acidity of water. Using a controlled system, like the SoftPro PH Neutralizer Calcite Water Filter, electronic monitoring will ensure that acidic water is returned to a healthy, neutral PH.  (read more about acidic water here)

What are the Dangers of Using a Calcite PH Neutralizer Water Filter?

Using natural calcite to neutralize the PH in your water will have no negative health effects. However, high concentrations of calcite may lead to limescale that can block water pipes and build up in appliances like water heaters.

It is important to use a high-quality, certified water neutralizer, like the SoftPro Calcite PH Neutralizer Water Filter. This way you know that high-grade natural calcite is used and is perfectly safe. Furthermore, the amount of calcite must be monitored to ensure a healthy PH of around 7, without excessive limescale being produced.

What is Acidic Water?

When water has a PH lower than 6.5 it is considered to be acidic. A neutral PH for water is around 7. When the PH is higher than 7, the water will be alkaline.

Industrial pollution is a common cause of acidic water. This can be a result of acid rain, where chemicals are present in evaporated water. The acids accumulate in clouds and become hazardous when this falls as rain. Acids can also leach into ground water. Wells with a source close to mines, landfills, chemical dumps, or power plants can be affected by high acidity.

Possible Risks of Acid in Water

Acidic water, with a PH of 6.5 or less,  can be harmful to your healthy. It may also damage the plumbing fixtures and appliances in your home.

Using a PH neutralizer calcite water filter will reduce the following risks factors:

  • Heavy Metal Contamination – exposure to heavy metals in water like lead, arsenic, cadmium, copper, nickel, and zinc can cause heavy metal poisoning, resulting in the following symptoms:
  • Organ damage
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Immunity suppression
  • Stomach pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • General weakness
  • Chills
  • Tooth Decay – Acidity in the water used for beverages and cooking can damage the tooth enamel, which is not good for your teeth.
  • Bone Health – consuming acidic water with high concentrations of cadmium, lead, chromium, and arsenic may negatively affect the health of your bones. It may also inhibit the absorption of calcium, which is essential for healthy bone growth.
  • Plumbing Damage – Your water pipes and appliances, like washing machines and water heaters, can corrode when exposed to acidic water. Leaks, caused by water pipe corrosion, can cause dangerous heavy metals to be absorbed into your water supply. This is easily recognized by a metallic taste when you drink tap water or a greenish blue staining of faucets, sinks, bathtubs, and showers.
