Six Best Wall Mounted Garage Vacuums

Wall mounted vacuum cleaners have grown in popularity in recent years. These vacuums try to fit the niche between handheld vacuum cleaners with limited battery life and large wet/dry shop vacuums that many people cannot afford or lack the space to store. The wall mounted vacuums listed here are designed for garage and workshop use, but many can double as car vacuums, household vacuums or replacements for a handheld vacuum to spot clean in the house. The best vacuums clean up cereal from the crevasse of a car, spit-up from a car seat, wood dust from a workbench and cement dust off the floor with equal ease.

There are a number of wall mounted garage vacuum cleaners on the market. In this article, we’ll look at the six best ones available today.

Best Garage Vacuums

1. BISSELL Garage Pro Wet/Dry Vacuum 18P03

You get seven attachments that can be used for detailing a car, cleaning in the small crevices of a work bench or cleaning the floor. The unit includes a wall mounting kit.

This vacuum has a four gallon tank. It is a wet/dry vacuum, so it can handle liquid messes as well as solids.

The biggest advantage of this vacuum is the 32’ hose that lets you reach most areas in a garage or inside a vehicle without having to remove the vacuum cleaner from the wall. The suction created by the vacuum cleaner is average. It can pick up small items, though the mouth at 1.5” can’t pick up big items like leaves.

One weakness this vacuum cleaner has is service; if you need it repaired, few locations will service it under the Bissell warranty. Replacing the filter can be a messy job if you aren’t careful of the spring loading that pops it up for easy access.

One plus for this vacuum cleaner is that air flow can be reversed to turn it into a blower. You can use this feature to unclog the hose or blow leaves and dirt into a corner to be swept up.

This vacuum is great for cleaning up the car after the kids have gotten out, from cleaning up spit up on the car seat to crumbs on the back row to sand in the floorboard carpet.

2. VacuMaid Wall Mounted Garage Model GV30

This vacuum’s strength is its ultra-long 30 foot cord coupled with a long vacuum hose.

This vacuum comes with a HEPA style bag. This vacuum, like many bagged household vacuum cleaners, contains the dust and debris it sucks up and keeps it there. While some people hate the hassle of emptying a bag or paying the price of disposable consumables like that, this is invaluable if the dust cloud emptying a vacuum makes it hard for you to breathe. This model is perfect for vacuuming up after taking the pets to the vet in the car before letting an allergic relative get in the vehicle. The minor downside is the high price per vacuum bag, though you can reduce this by buying several at a time.

The GV30 vacuum has a longer lasting motor than its rivals. If you expect to use this vacuum every day to clean up in a workshop or detail your car, the higher price is more than offset by the longer operating life.

If the dust cloud created emptying other garage vacuums used to control dust in the garage or workshop creates problems for your breathing, you’ll want this garage vacuum cleaner.

3. Hoover GUV ProGrade Garage Utility Vacuum L2310

The vacuum has a long lasting filter that cleans itself. The unit’s inlet screen, however, can clog up.

This vacuum is one of the quietest garage vacuums on the market, though prone to high pitched whining. You get a good, long, flexible 30’ hose with the vacuum cleaner, so you rarely need to dismount it to clean almost any part of the garage. The vacuum is easy to clean and won’t make a mess when you do so.

You get the standard assortment of attachments like a dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice tools and extension wands. Its floor nozzle does a better than the average picking up saw dust or plaster dust off the floor. It has mediocre suction for picking up large broken pieces off of the floor. It has trouble picking up leaves. Suction falls off as the vacuum bin fills up.

This vacuum is ideal for cleaning up in a wood working shop to control dust and debris.

4. Vacmaster Wall Mounted Industrial Vacuum VWM510

This vacuum has a five gallon capacity. It has five horsepower of peak capacity, but it typically runs with far less power and suction than a formal “5 HP” vacuum. On the flipside, it isn’t as loud as some of its rivals.

This vacuum’s strength is how easily it detaches from the wall and can be carried around.

The vacuum has a 21’ hose and 20’ cord. All the accessories are stored on board. If you want to be able to detail your car while it sits in the driveway before cleaning up the mess the kids tracked through the mud room into the house without having to go back and forth for tools or finding another outlet for the vacuum, this is the vacuum cleaner for you.

5. Shop-Vac Wall Mounted Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner 3942000

This vacuum cleaner has five gallons of capacity like the VacMaster. It has a slightly lower peak horsepower rating, 4.5 HP.

You can often find it on sale for less than that, so you can get the vacuum and ship it for less than a hundred dollars. Replacement filters and tools are also affordably priced.

The vacuum handles wet messes as well as dry ones. It has average suction, but due to its design, its best use is cleaning up dust on a wood working or shavings on a metal working work bench. It won’t do as good a job picking up spilled mini-cookies in the car or gravel.

One plus for the Shop-Vac is ease of service if you need it, and with its low price, you can afford to get a new one if the repair bill is too high for your tastes.

6. Workshop Brand Portable Wall Mounted Vacuum Cleaner WS0501

This vacuum cleaner is arguably the best one for car detailing. It comes with a dusting brush for cleaning AC vents, car consoles and dashboards without leaving streaks or scratches. The 1 7/8” wide hose is better for picking up loose change and spilled goldfish crackers than its rivals. The flipside is that the unusual size, less than a standard 2” diameter, means you can’t substitute a different manufacturer’s hose if you wanted to. You get a 21’ hose and 20’ cord, so it may need to come down off the wall if you’re trying to clean all the nooks and crannies of a workshop but not if you’re cleaning out a car parked right next to the vacuum cleaner’s wall mount. The vacuum automatically adjusts suction as you work.

The vacuum design lets you replace the filter with minimal mess.
