In this review of the Bissell BigGreen commercial backpack vacuum, model BG1006, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this vacuum cleaner model. This review also includes information that isn’t a clear pro or con but may affect the decision of some to buy it.
Pros of the Bissell Big Green, Model BG1006
This backpack vacuum has a large six quart capacity.
It weighs around ten pounds empty.
It is a high filtration (HEPA grade) vacuum cleaner that cleans the air as it works. The only downside is that the replacement high filtration air filters for the vacuum cost around $15 for six if you buy them online and costing even more if you buy them from the manufacturer. And the unit only comes with one vacuum bag.
The plastic hose plus metal wand makes it as versatile as a nimble upright vacuum cleaner while enabling spot cleaning. It comes with a variety of accessories from floor cleaning heads, upholstery heads, crevice cleaning tools and dusting. There are eight tools in all. The unit also comes with extension wands for dusting up high and sucking up gum off the ceiling. The wand without any extensions is a good four feet long.
The narrow profile makes it easy for someone to maneuver through a room while wearing this backpack vacuum cleaner. The shoulder belts and waist belt reduce the strain on the user carrying it as they work.
The ultra-long 50 foot power cord lets someone cover even large spaces without having to change outlets.
The commercial vacuum automatically turns off when it detects that the dirt bin is full. And the twist off lid makes it easy to empty. This minimizes the risk of messes or accidents.
It generates enough suction to pull up pet hair with its 120 CFM air flow. And the crush proof hose rarely clogs.
This backpack vacuum comes with Bissell’s standard one year warranty. Bissell has excellent service when the unit is sent back under warranty.
The unit’s design doesn’t contribute to static electricity generation.
Cons of the Bissell Big Green BG1006
The power switch allows you to turn it on and off without having to take the vacuum off. The downside of this convenient location is that it is sometimes hit by accident while the unit is in use.
Do you have pet fur in thick carpets? Do you need to lift up heavy debris on an ongoing basis? Then this vacuum doesn’t quite cut it as sold.
Observations about the Bissell Big Green, Model BG1006 Commercial Backpack Vacuum
The shoulder straps are intended to help you carry the load without strain; they are not as secure as they could be.
Its broad fifteen inch head will deep clean thick carpets and pick up heavy debris like pebbles this backpack vacuum cleaner otherwise won’t get. This power nozzle connects electrically to the switch box on the back. The powered vacuum head itself connects to the lower wand. This accessory comes with a storage ring for hanging on a wall mounted storage rack when not in use.
Summary
This commercial backpack vacuum cleaner is lightweight, versatile, multi-purpose and durable. The only sticking points for some are the relatively high price of the backpack vacuum and its accessories.
