There are certain features we look for in our household vacuum cleaners, with power, suction, good looks and user convenience coming out on top. While looks are not really a necessity in the commercial market, high power, efficient suction and user convenience still rate highly. There are many consumers that clean houses, professionally or otherwise, and insist on using an Oreck brand machine because of its general reliability and effectiveness. The Oreck XL2100RHS 8 Pound Upright is a commercial vacuum that promises to be light and efficient with a great performance but does it deliver? Find out in this review.
Power and hard, multi-floor cleaning are the main benefits here but there are little perks that add to the appeal too.
This Oreck high-speed vacuum is a commercial model with power at the forefront of its design and its sales claims. The key feature is surely the 6,500 RPM brushroll that really tries to get a deep, powerful clean to lift all that stubborn dirt for an effective process. Additionally, it has a large, 12” wide cleaning path that should ensure that even the biggest jobs do not take too much time, side edge brushes for corners and edges and “microsweep” technology for multi-floor cleaning. There are happy buyers claiming that this machine works “beautifully” and they hardly feel as they they are controlling it at all. The multi-floor aspect also seems to live up to its promises, with users praising the way that controls dust on tiles and lifts pet hair on carpets.
Because this is a commercial vacuum with performance in mind over anything else, there aren’t too many clever gadgets or conveniences for the user, not in the way that is seen in flashy domestic models, and it is not the most attractive of products, with some going as far as calling it ugly. The point here is that it doesn’t have to be flashy or attractive; a corded machine with a large bag may not cut it with household vacuums these days but in a commercial setting they provide the reliability and capacity needed to carry out those large jobs. Having said this, there are some nice touches like the long 35ft cord length and the disposable inner bag to attract buyers further.
There are some exceptions to the rule, however, and this does have some neat little extras to aid its human operator, such as the placement of the power button on the apparently arthritis-friendly handle and the automatic floor adjustment system that sense changes in surfaces. It is also worth reiterating that this is a light model at just 8.2lbs and this has had a big reaction with users because not only is it lighter than buyers had expected, they are not experiencing the back pain they had with prolonged use of other, heavier models.
This Oreck Commercial Vacuum may not be pretty but its does the job.
Essentially, the end result of this design is to ensure that users can start these large, demanding jobs without any need to stop or make adjustments; your hand should not get too tired and the machine can pretty much be trusted to cover a large area of multiple surfaces and clean it efficiently due to the wide cleaning path, powerful brushroll and other key features.
