O-Cedar Easy Wring Spin Mop and Bucket Review

The O-Cedar Easy Wring spin mop and bucket system is a best selling spin mop system. In this review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this spin mop and its supporting equipment.

Pros of the O Cedar Mop

It has an excellent splash guard. This mop and bucket system is minimal mess compared to most mop and bucket systems. You aren’t going to splash dirty water around as you try to wring the mop threads, nor do you have to deal with stray dirty strings not quite making it into the bucket.

The spin mop is good for those who don’t have the balance or lower back flexibility to lean over and squeeze out the dirty water in traditional mop bucket squeeze plates.

The mop head absorbs a lot of water, making it a good choice for cleaning up spilled beverages.

The mop bucket is high capacity, capable of holding a lot of water. The bucket doesn’t have wheels, so it works well if you’re mopping one room or connected area, but not if you intend to move it around.
This mop has a foot pedal that lets you wring the water out instead of relying on manual wringing. This is useful for those who have hand arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome or whose backs won’t let them lean over and have to manually wring out the mop.

This spin mop system is cheaper than rivals like the Twist and Shout mop system. The price gap isn’t as large if you buy a replacement mop refill, whereas many rivals come with both the mop and a refill mop head.

Replacement mop heads are less than ten dollars apiece and easy to change out, versus some mop designs that require you to replace the entire mop to get a new, clean head. You do want to replace the head periodically to reduce the risk of mildew and bacterial growth in the spin mop’s head, since it dries slowly.

Cons of the O Cedar Mop

The mop is not heavy duty. Don’t expect this to last ten years like your old fashioned mops.

The handle comes in three separate pieces that screw together. The middle and bottom pieces don’t lock together. If you apply pressure on that section while moping, the bottom piece tends to come off.

If you put too much pressure on the mop head, such as when scrubbing ground in dirt on tile or dried juice stains, the plastic head starts scraping the floor.

Observations

The wringer that comes with the bucket doesn’t do as good a job as the traditional squeeze plates unless you rinse the mop head several times in it.

The mop head doesn’t swivel, which may necessitate you moving more to get into corners and along the wall.

The mop has a 48 inch handle. When you factor in mopping at an angle, the mop is simple too short for taller individuals. Adults approaching six feet tall will find it awkward, where they have to lean over to use it other than mopping right next to their feet.

Shorter women closer to the five foot mark will find this model very ergonomic.

Summary

This spin mop system is best for those who need to mop one large section of the house without dragging the mop bucket around. The O-Cedar Easy Wring spin mop is ideal for those who physically cannot stand to lean over and press down on a squeeze plate time and time again, whether due to their back or wrists giving out.

I have bought 2 of the cedar spin mop buckets. I have bought 2 for my daughter and one for my son..i love using the spin bucket but I do have a problem to report. The gears in the mop bucket doesn’t last very long. My second mop bucket which I bought a few months ago just this morning has gone out on me again. And that is the same reason that I have bought my daughter 2 of tbem. They don’t last. I love the mop spin bucket and mop but I can’t afford to keep buying them when they don’t even last a year.

I have the same problem with mine no spin only a few months old what does O”CEDAR want to do to fix this recurring problem why make something that does not last long. Is it because O’CEDAR does not care and only makes JUNK if this is the case I will not recommend the SPIN MOP system to anyone.

You are so right! I’ve gone through two already & am wondering if it’s worth doing it again. I really like the ease of this system but not the price of replacing it so often. The gears on the pedal are crappy! They need to upgrade. They also need to sell the bucket alone for those of us who have plenty of mops & no buckets to wring them in because of this problem. I’m not well & don’t need the extra aggravation.

Slop & swirl hot vinegar water onto floor, dip in clean water, wring & swirl to pick up water to almost dry. Quick & easy except for the handle -it’s too short & I’m 5’6″. Back killer & I didn’t have to “scrub”.

Terry, I agree! Just used it for the first time and I found it too short also. I have to lean over which is not good for my back. I wish they would sell a longer handle!

Doesn’t do good job of wringing out water. The spin basket is useless. Dirty water goes back into pail of clean water! Plastic junk. Too much money for to little. Water all over wood floor. Garbage.

I just purchased this mop system and think mine has a defective mop handle, I twisted it to the left to extend the handle but the longest I could get it to go is only 35 inches, and not the 48 inches you mentioned. I have sent one complaint but have not received a reply yet. I purchased mine through Amazon. Is it possible to get a replacement handle? I prefer not to go through the hassle of returning everything, and I can’t imagine the company would want a used mop. I have back problems and I had to bend over to mop my floors because of the short handle. Not happy with it as is.

I JUST USED THIS SYSTEM FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I AM NOT PLEASED AT ALL. EACH TIME I USE THE SPIN SYSTEM TO DRY THE FLOOR IT IS NECESSARY FOR ME TO WRING THE EXCESS WATER FROM THE MOP HEAD BY HAND. SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE SYSTEM??? PLEASE TELL ME THAT I DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE PURCHASING THIS ITEM.

Well…I guess I won’t be buying this mop. It sounds like it is made very cheap. I wish they could make something that is sturdy. We are all sick of buying JUNK.

I love the mop & have had no problems with the bucket. The only problem I’ve had is where the handle screws into the head has stripped the threads so it doesn’t stay together. I have put plumber’s tape around it but it still doesn’t stay well.

I have had my spin mop for 6 mos. or so and I love it. I change my mop heads very easily, put them in the washer and dryer and they’re ready to go. So far have had no problem with my spin mop or bucket.

I’m 69 years old and have bought ALOT of mops. I’m very happy with my Oceda mop and spin bucket. I did have a problem with the mop handle & called and a woman explained what was wrong and how to fix it. Just like that. Now all I need is a cleaning lady

I have had my spin mop bucket for 4 months now and I love it but when the mop breaks or the handle breaks you cannot buy just the month. I have had no problems with the bucket but I need a new mop handle and you can’t buy just the mop and mop you know that’s my biggest con

My problem is the small gear in the bucket. I am on my second bucket and unless o cedar can send me a replacement gear for free I will not tell anyone that it’s a product worth buying.

I purchased my spin mop at the suggestion of my sister in law, and I love it! I love that it is very easy to use, lightweight, and durable. I love that the mop head is very easy to change and clean. I have really enjoyed using the spin mop and will continue to use it in the future.

I have used this spin mop and many others as I am a professional cleaning lady with 30 years experience. This mop is much better than the as seen on TV ones and please don’t get me started on the one made by the lady on the movie. It is no joy to use at all. It’s a good buy for performance don’t know about longevity.

The mop has a lot of water left in it after spinning it 10 times or more. Is there a certain way to do this to better results?
