Hoover Commercial C2401 Shoulder Vac Pro Backpack Vacuum Review

In this Hoover commercial shoulder vac pro backpack vacuum, model C2401, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this model. And we’ll point out a few observations about the vacuum cleaner that may sway your decision either way but aren’t major points for or against the model.

Pros of Hoover C2401 Commercial Backpack Vacuum

This backpack vacuum weighs only ten pounds, a load almost anyone can carry. The bulk is a greater impediment than the weight.

This vacuum can hold a whopping 6.4 quarts of dust, more than many other commercial vacuums.

It has high quality HEPA filters that remove most allergens from the air and prevent a fine powder from being left behind.

This backpack has a standard set of tools like a crevice tool, turbo floor tool, dusting brush and upholstery tool. Unlike many rivals, it also has two 38 inch metal wands. You can use the same vacuum, still carried on your bag, to vacuum along the floor baseboards, couch crevices and dust along the ceiling air vents. You don’t need to switch between a handheld vacuum for the upholstery, stick vacuum for the floor and canister vacuum with all the rods attached to clean high places.

Wearing it as a backpack can make it easier to carry around a crowded floor and reduce the need to move furniture.

It has a very long extension cord, useful if you want to put on the vacuum, plug it in once, and spot vacuum or dust the whole house.

The curved end piece of the hose is useful for cleaning baseboards. The floor attachments are wide.

Cons of the Hoover Commercial C2401 Backpack Vacuum

It costs more than many traditional push-around vacuum cleaners.

The vacuum’s straps aren’t as flexible or versatile as those for a backpack. It may be uncomfortable for large breasted women and heavier users of either gender to try to wear. While the straps are ergonomic for those with an average build, this commercial vacuum cleaner has a rather narrow waist band that anyone with a gut will struggle to strap closed.

The unit can get warm after being used for a long time. This can be a problem if you’re trying to use it in the summer.

Observations of Hoover Shoulder Vac Pro Backpack

This is a bagged vacuum. This is a plus if you have serious allergies, since the bags will keep the dirt and debris enclosed in the bag, minimizing the cloud of dust created when you empty the dust cup. However, replacement throwaway vacuum bags are about five to ten dollars apiece and get filled up quickly. You can get cloth bags that you shake out like a bagless vacuum, but this is as messy as emptying a Hoover vacuum dust cup. And the bagged design means it will lose suction power as the bag fills up, no matter which bag type you choose.

The brush attachment can pick up hair, but more than a little can clog the brush attachment.

Suction is best on the metal wands without attachments and decreases when you add the brushes to the end.

The ten pound base load can approach twenty pounds in a bulky vacuum cleaner as you finish the job. That load isn’t evenly distributed, making this a poor choice for anyone with balance problems.

Summary

This commercial vacuum cleaner is ideal for cleaning shelves, displays and furniture, not floors.

If your vacuuming is slowed down by the need to move things around so you can pull the canister vacuum cleaner around, this backpack vacuum cleaner is a valid alternative, assuming you can comfortably wear it.

I don’t agree that the vacuum isn’t good for floors, but it depends on the surface and the purpose. I use this vacuum for jobsite cleaning, but I also use it on my home which is all hardwood. With the size of the wide floor nozzle and the power of the suck, I can get through my entire home in just 20 minutes. It does take some getting used to having the vacuum on your back and not smacking into a wall or door jamb.

Overall I would say this is a valuable tool for a trade or even for a large house… it would be great for Spring cleaning!!!
