In this Electrolux EL2021A Ergorapido 2-in-1 stick and handheld vacuum review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this model. The EL2021A is a new and improved version of the Ergorapido vacuums.
Pros of the Electrolux Ergorapido
- This vacuum does a fair job cleaning hard floors. This vacuum did rather well in tests involving sucking up sand and sawdust. The Ergorapido has better performance than the more expensive Electrolux UltraPower Studio vacuum.
- The Electrolux Ergorapido has a brush roll to clean carpets almost as well as a traditional upright vacuum. The smaller head does mean you’ll need more passes to cover the same space, which is why this vacuum is ideal for someone who lives in a small apartment or RV covered mostly in tile, linoleum and wood floors.
- The handheld vacuum can be easily removed from the stick and then replaced when you want to resume vacuuming the floor. Comes in handy for use on upholstery, stairs and even for the car.
- This is a bagless vacuum.
- Cleaning up tangled up hair on the roller brush is easier on this vacuum than you might encounter with other vacuums. One side of the roller brush unclips with the push of a button and you can then easily detangle any hairs or strings that may have wound around it
- The handle is very ergonomic, hence the name. And the vacuum itself is only about five pounds.
- This vacuum can rest against the wall and it won’t fall over.
- Works well for pet hair.
- This Vacuum is made for hardwood, tile and all bare floors and does an excellent job on these surfaces. However it is not suited for thick carpets. But does an adequate job on low pile carpets.
The Ergorapido has two separate suction modes, low and high. However, using the high speed will reduce the operating life. It runs about twenty minutes at the low suction, and this drops to twelve minutes at high speed.
- Tools are stored in a bag on the charging stand, so you don’t have to lug them around with the vacuum.
- The dust cup is easy to empty and doesn’t require complicated maneuvering to empty, compared to some Dyson models that require you to pick up the vacuum and hold it over the trash to empty.
- You can use this vacuum to clean your furniture as well as your floors while hardly breaking your stride.
Cons of the Electrolux Ergorapido
- It doesn’t pick up heavier items off the floor like clumps of dirt or Cheerios.
- It takes fifteen to twenty hours to recharge the battery. This means you can’t use it more than once a day. If you do use it every day, be sure to charge it completely to maximize battery life. Unfortunately, this is often a year or less of heavy use, despite the two year warranty.
- The dust cup is only 0.4 quarts, equal to 1.6 cups.
- This isn’t a wet-dry vac. Don’t use it on wet or even damp surfaces.
Observations about the Electrolux Ergorapido
This Electrolux EL2021A Ergorapido 2-in-1 stick and handheld vacuum review wouldn’t be complete without additional information that may affect the buyer’s decision but don’t specifically count as pros or cons.
The Electrolux EL2021A is far cheaper than the competing $500 Dyson DC59. The Electrolux Ergorapido is around $170 but regularly on sale for a little less. If you like the model and still grapple with the price, you can find used and reconditioned models. However, buying this vacuum anywhere but through an authorized seller means no warranty. The standard warranty is two years.
