Dyson DC59 Animal Review

The Powerful Handheld Vacuum That Does The Job of an Upright

Most handheld vacuums make clean up convenient but they are not very powerful at all. They are handy to have around for spills and to clean up under furniture, but if you want to deep clean, you should consider a full sized upright vacuum cleaner. When it comes to handheld vacuums, you can’t run through the list without doing a Dyson DC59 Animal review. This vacuum is just as powerful as an upright and leaves other handhelds in the dust, which is pretty kickass. This cordless stick vacuum makes cleaning convenient so you are not confined by a cord as you move around your home. It has a wide range of accessories that are designed to clean those hard to reach areas and an attachment which removes pet hair from furniture.

In our Dyson DC59 review we used the machine in a variety of situations and found that it had very strong suction. The unit had a long wand attachment and a wide head that is perfect for cleaning both carpet and hard flooring. Since it is a Dyson, the performance is much better than you would expect from a small lightweight vacuum. You shouldn’t let the lightness of the unit fool you, it is pretty powerful and machine that looks like a laser gun. It has a pistol grip under the motor, located just over the batter. If you want to operate the machine you simply pull the pistol grip trigger. When you need extra suction, you can boost it by pressing the MAX button, but this will cause serious battery drainage.Dyson DC59 Vacuum

Removable Dust Bin

Just in front of the grip sits the dust compartment which is a clear cylinder. There is a two-tiered 15-chamber radial cyclone system that features chromed plastic which contours around each chamber. The filter is washable and is located directly in the middle of the chamber. Inside the dust compartment is a large purple chamber that directs dust into the filter. When you need to empty the dust chamber, you just pull up on the red clip and flip the bottom of the cylinder open, tilting the machine while holding it over a trash bin.

Accessories and Attachments

This Dyson DC59 cordless stick vacuum review would not be complete without a description of the attachments that are included with the machine. This unit is handy because while it is considered a “handheld” machine it features a very long wand and a wide head for cleaning floors which turns this machine into a solid upright vacuum. It is easy to clean anything with the Dyson DC59 and the head has a spinning brush cylinder which can be removed for easy cleaning if there are any tangles or jams.

The Dyson’s wand attaches to any accessory including a thin nozzle and a brush attachment. The spinning brush head is extremely useful for cleaning up pet hair. The attachments can be used with the wand or without it so you do not have to bend down to clean the floors. This is really a great feature for those who have a lot of back pain because it eliminates the whole bending and stooping action.

Charging and Storage

This vacuum can be plugged right into a wall outlet that is convenient for you with a power adapter. A wall mount docking station is included so that you can store your unit within easy reach. The vacuum stays securely in place when it is clipped to the wall mount, so you don’t have to worry about it taking additional storage space, falling down or slipping. Charge time is approximately 3.5 hours.

Dyson DC59 Animal Performance Review

The Dyson Animal is as powerful as any upright vacuum on the market. It can reach under anything or around anything to pick up evasive dirt and pet hair tumbleweeds. The upholstery heads are efficient pet hair removal weapons and can make it look like no pets live in your home at all.

It picks up dry dirt and dust, pet hair and debris from most surfaces. Moist dirt or “gunk” can also be vacuumed, although you will probably have to clean the head of the machine after you have completed this task. The battery life is about 26 minutes but if you use the boost mode you will reduce that battery life. Most people can accomplish most of what they set out to do in less than 20 minutes anyway. The effect of the boost mode is to triple the suction power to 100 air watts which is effective for removing stubborn dirt.

The Dyson DC59 cordless vacuum is portable and versatile, and can alternate between an upright unit and a handheld one. It picks up just about anything that you want it to and makes no complaints while doing it. The only problems you might encounter with this machine are that the canister is quite small and needs to be emptied often if you are using it extensively. The other issue is that the battery life can be significantly shortened if you use the boost button too often.
