In this review of the BISSELL Garage Pro Wet/Dry vacuum, 18P03 model, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this vacuum cleaner.
Pros of the Bissell Garage Pro 18P03
This wall mounted system doesn’t take up the floor space in the corner as many of its rivals. It will never tip over because it can’t stand up on its own without leaning against something.
This vacuum can handle both wet and dry messes, something many handheld vacuum cleaners cannot do.
This vacuum has a large four gallon tank; it has far more capacity than its rivals.
The vacuum’s 32 foot hose lets you move around the car or garage as you clean without having to lug the vacuum cleaner around.
This vacuum cleaner comes with a number of tools for detailing the car, getting Cheerios out of the small nooks and crannies of the kid’s car seat, cleaning up fine debris from your last craft project and deep cleaning the car’s mats. This wall mounted vacuum has many of the fine detailing tools you’ll find at the car wash. And it comes with an attachment bag so you don’t lose the tools.
This wall vacuum is easier to use than many of its rivals. Assembling the vacuum requires little effort and no tools to do.
Cons of the Bissell Garage Pro 18P03
The wall mounting kit that comes with the vacuum does require installation to use.
The filter tends to clog if you are using it to pick up fine dust like sawdust or cement dust. And when you try to empty the dust out of the vacuum, it doesn’t have a bag so the dust can get scattered everywhere. Cleaning the filter means the sucked in dust turns to mud; replacing the filter only partially solves this problem. If you have a lot of dust in the garage, use a broom, not this vacuum cleaner.
Observations
This wall mounted vacuum can double as a blower, such as a snow blower or leaf blower. The versatility helps defray the cost, if it can replace the occasional rental of a snow blower or leaf blower. It doesn’t have the power to move three feet of snow or high piles of leaves, but it is an excellent deal if it lets you clean up the leaves and light snow on the side walk once in a while in addition to the messes in your car. Only use this vacuum as a blower outside, since it will blow any dust it has taken in out when you use it. Conversely, this method lets you clear out the fine dust inside the vacuum cleaner that you picked up in the garage – as long as you’re careful not to switch it to blower mode somewhere inside.
The vacuum has average suction regardless of what you are picking up and sucking up. It picks up dirt, leaves, the crumbs the toddler made eating in the car and what the baby spit up. However, it won’t pick up large rocks, broken pieces of toys a kid threw or large items.
If the vacuum needs repairs, it is hard to find a repair center that will do the work under Bissell’s warranty.
The unit’s non-standard hose size means you can’t swap out hoses with this vacuum with others you may have on hand. The hose is also so narrow that while it can pick up splinters of wood, it won’t pick up large wood chips. Conversely, the blower function means that you can clear out a clogged hose by switching to blow mode, instead of some units that require you to take the hose apart. This is essential given the length of the hose itself.
Summary
The Bissell Garage Pro Wet/Dry vacuum cleaner is a good all-around wall mounted vacuum cleaner for your car, garage and basement. It is a versatile medium power vacuum suitable for almost any small clean up job.
