In this BISSELL CleanView Complete Pet bagless upright vacuum 1319 review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this vacuum cleaner.
Pros of the BISSELL CleanView 1319
- It ties the Hoover Windtunnel on price, the second best vacuum in the 2014Consumer Reports.
- The Bissell Cleanview isn’t reviewed in the 2014 Consumer Reports buying guide; it is too new. However, Consumer Reports does rate Bissell upright vacuums as the third most reliable vacuum cleaner brand overall. Bissell averaged seven percent of its units needing repairs in a given year, almost half the rate at which Riccar’s vacuums broke down.
- This vacuum has a longer cord than the Hoover Windtunnel, and the cord has an automatic rewind function to keep it from becoming a trip hazard.
- This vacuum comes with a whole assortment of tools. There is a pet hair tool for corners, a general pet hair removal tool and other standard tools.
- The carbon filter in this vacuum is an excellent odor remover, whether you have to suck up a pet’s mess, wet pet hair or old fur balls. And the vacuum’s filters are easy to access for replacement.
- This vacuum has built in filtration to ensure that the pet hair you suck up doesn’t result in a fine mist of dander through the vacuum’s exhaust.
- The vacuum has both long bristles specifically designed to pick up pet hair and short bristles to pick up everything else that may be on your carpet.
- The vacuum has a limited three year warranty.
- The dirt filter indicator lets you know when you need to replace the filter. And its suction power indicator tells you when the suction is good and turns red when there is a problem such as a blockage. This reduces the odds of a motor burning out due to insufficient airflow.
- The brush roll has an on /off switch so you can turn it off as required. And you can switch from carpets to hard floors by turning off the brush roll. Or turn off the rolling brushes while you use the tools on the vacuum hose, so that the brushes don’t wear out the section of carpet the vacuum is sitting on.
- This is a relatively quiet high power vacuum.
Cons of the BISSELL CleanView 1319
This vacuum’s hose is not very long. It is also stiff. This means that it is hard to use the vacuum’s pet hair tools at five foot heights or greater. This also means you need to pull the vacuum around to get to various spots. You can buy an extension wand to compensate, but that is an additional four dollars plus shipping per wand.
- This vacuum’s inner cyclone often traps dust that then affects the quality of air flow and transfer of junk to the vacuum’s storage tank.
- You may have to remove the entire cyclone to properly clean it.
- If you have to replace the belt, it requires removing seven separate screws.
Observations
This Bissell pet vacuum is 15 pounds. That isn’t heavy for a vacuum cleaner, since some of its rivals are over twenty pounds. However, combined with its high suction, this vacuum can be hard to maneuver when it is on.

This vacuum has a wide base. On one hand, this means you’ll clean the floor in fewer passes. On the other hand, you’ll need to move more furniture to get into narrow spaces.
